Frequently Asked Questions
Here are Brocchieri Camicie’s answers to your questions. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, you can contact us on WhatsApp.
Getting Started
Brocchieri Camicie is a Neapolitan tailoring company, tailors since 1972, specialized in creating handcrafted custom men’s shirts. We carry on the tailoring tradition started by Gennaro Brocchieri, making shirts customized in every detail, hand-sewn by our Neapolitan tailors using only fabrics from the world’s best producers such as Albini, Thomas Mason, Canclini, Soktas, and Carlo Riva.
The process is simple: choose the fabric from over 2,000 options, customize every detail (from the collar to the buttons, from initials to hand stitching), provide your measurements, and — for your 1st order — receive a “test shirt” to check the fit. Once the fit is confirmed, we make your final shirt and ship it directly to your home. You can order online or book an appointment with one of our Style Assistants in the serviced provinces (Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, Padua).
Our mission is to create exceptional quality custom shirts that reflect the Neapolitan tailoring tradition and meet the unique needs of each Client. Our core values are:
– Craftsmanship: each shirt is made from scratch, scissor-cut, and includes hand stitching.
– Quality: we use only top-tier fabrics and components with certificates of authenticity.
– Customization: no limits to creativity, every detail is customizable.
– Service: we offer direct support and a “test shirt” to ensure the perfect fit.
The price mainly depends on the fabric chosen. Our prices start at around €141 for high-quality fabrics and go up to €495 for the finest fabrics with high thread counts (up to 300/2). This price includes full customization, AAA-grade Australian mother-of-pearl buttons, and essential hand stitching. The “test shirt” costs €15 for the first order, but it’s included for orders of more than three shirts.
Fabrics
We exclusively use fabrics from the world’s finest mills: Albini 1876, Thomas Mason 1796, Canclini 1925, Soktas, and Carlo Riva. These historic brands represent excellence in the textile industry, with centuries of experience producing the highest quality cotton and linen fabrics. We offer a wide variety of types (Poplin, Twill, Oxford, Zephyr, Linen), weights (light for summer, standard for mid-season, heavy for winter), and patterns (solid colors, stripes, checks, prints). With over 2,000 fabrics in our catalog, you’ll surely find the perfect one for you.
The Declaration of Authenticity is a document that accompanies every Brocchieri shirt and lists all the details of the fabric used: manufacturer, type, thread count, and specific characteristics. We firmly believe you should know exactly what you’re wearing, and this transparency allows you to fully appreciate the value of your garment and reorder the same fabric in the future if you wish. You won’t find vague “high-quality cotton” labels, but the exact identity of the fabric you wear on your skin.
Choosing the right fabric depends on three main factors: 1) Formality: fabrics like Poplin are more formal, while Oxford and Linen are generally more casual; 2) Seasonality: consider the fabric weight based on the season (light for summer, heavy for winter); 3) Intended use: shirts for the office, ceremonies, or leisure require different fabrics. Our Style Assistants are available to help you make the right choice, but as a general rule, a white or light blue shirt in Poplin or Twill is a great first purchase, versatile for many occasions.
Customization
With Brocchieri, you can customize every aspect of your shirt: the collar style (Italian, French, button-down, diplomatic, club collar, Korean, etc.), cuffs (with one or two buttons, for cufflinks, Neapolitan style), the type of buttons (Australian mother-of-pearl in 12 different shades or exclusive designs), the button stitching (lily, cross, or railroad), the thread color for buttonholes and buttons (over 700 shades available), any contrasting fabrics inside the collar and cuffs, embroidered initials, and hand stitching (4, 9, or 13 passes). You can also choose details like the presence of pockets, the back style, and the shirt length.
Hand stitching is a distinctive feature of true Neapolitan tailoring tradition. Unlike machine stitching, hand stitches have small “imperfections” that attest to their authenticity and provide greater elasticity to the garment, making it more comfortable for daily movements. We offer three levels of hand stitching: 4 passes (the essential stitches, always included), 9 passes (which add visible stitching), and 13 passes (all the stitches). Among the hand-stitched elements are the armhole with “shifted sleeve” (for the best comfort), mouches (reinforcement triangles), reinforcements, and buttons.
Absolutely! We are a Neapolitan tailoring company and we place no limits on creativity. If you have a specific customization in mind that you can’t find in our online configurator, contact us: we will evaluate the feasibility together and propose bespoke solutions. Whether it’s an unusual detail, a special fabric, or a unique configuration, we will do our best to meet your requests. Our mission is to create shirts that perfectly reflect your personality and style, and it’s normal that this may require non-standard solutions.
Measurements
The “test shirt” is a semi-basted shirt made from raw fabric, based on your preliminary measurements. This step, typical of true Neapolitan tailoring tradition, is recommended for your 1st order because it is essential to check the overall fit and identify any points that need modification before making the final shirt. Once you receive the test shirt, simply wear it and send us three photos (front, side, back). Our expert tailors will analyze every detail and make any necessary adjustments. The test shirt costs €15, but it is included for orders of more than three shirts.
We offer three simple methods to provide us with your measurements: 1) Measure your body following our video tutorial, all you need is a measuring tape and a few minutes; 2) Measure an existing shirt that fits you particularly well, following our guide; 3) Book an appointment with one of our Style Assistants who will take your measurements personally (service available in some provinces). Whatever method you choose, don’t worry about absolute precision: the “test shirt” will allow us to check and refine the fit before the final shirt is made.
